Vero Beach Pedestrian Hit By Truck Monday Night Dies

A 22-year-old pedestrian died of injuries after being struck by a motorist on Second Street on Monday evening, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Eric Yates, of the 1800 block of Third Street, was taken Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute, Fort Pierce, and died at 11 a.m. Tuesday, according to the FHP.

Yates was walking east in the westbound lane of Second Street at 6:32 p.m. when the driver of a westbound vehicle failed to see him, according to the FHP. The vehicle’s right front hit Yates, who ended up on the north shoulder of Second Street.

The driver of the 2008 Dodge Ram was Adam Dean, 22, of the 4000 block of 41st Avenue. The case remains under investigation.
