Do you need to speed? Before you choose to fly down the road, think about what could happen if you drive over the speed limit…….you or one of your friends is killed……you get in a wreck…… you end up with a ticket!  Is it worth it?

Take a look at how speeding makes a big dent in your bank account. It takes the fun out of driving!

Minimum Cash Fines
1-5 mph over…………………….. Possible Warning
6-9 mph over…………………….. $25
10-14 mph over…………………. $100
15-19 mph over…………………. $150
20-29 mph over…………………. $175
30 mph+ over……………………. $250 MUST GO TO COURT
30 mph+ over 2X or more in one year……………………. $500 MUST GO TO COURT

In a School Zone
1-5 mph over…………………….. $50
5 mph+ over……………………… 2x the Regular Fine

Points on Your License
1-15 mph………………………….. 3 points
16 mph+…………………………… 4 points
In a crash while speeding…………………………… 4 points

*Please note that ticket costs are set by the Florida Legislature and don’t include fees and court costs set by each county. Ticket prices will be much higher and vary by county. That makes it very expensive to break a traffic law in Florida.

If you are caught going 30 mph+ over the speed limit, you have to go to court – it’s mandatory!
