Do you have a need for speed? Before you choose to fly down the road, think about what could happen if you drive over the speed limit. You could get a ticket or get into an accident, possibly even killing yourself or someone else. The cost of speeding isn't worth the risk.

Minimum Cash Fines
1-5 mph over.......................... Possible Warning
6-9 mph over.......................... $25
10-14 mph over...................... $100
15-19 mph over...................... $125
20-29 mph over...................... $150
30 mph+ over......................... $250
(2x if 30 mph+ more than once in a year)
In a School Zone
1-5 mph over.......................... $50
5 mph+ over........................... 2x the Regular Fine
Points on Your License
1-15 mph................................ 3 points
16 mph+................................. 4 points
*Please note that ticket costs are set by the Florida Legislature and don't include fees and court costs set by each county. Ticket prices will be much higher and vary by county. That makes it very expensive to break a traffic law in Florida.
If you are caught going 30 mph+ over the speed limit, you have to go to court – it's mandatory!
